Intranet success is not linked to the technology

Wednesday, September 22, 2004

The technology used for an intranet or corporate portal does not determine success or failure. There are dozens of excellent technology solutions. Success or failure is much more closely linked to these issues:
  • Does it have the support of senior management?
  • Do the business objectives mesh with user goals?
  • Is it easy to use?
According to Tom Davenport, best-selling author and expert on knowledge management: "If you're spending more than a third of your energy on the technology side, you're probably not going to be successful."
